REACTOR SYSTEM REATORG TECHNOLOGIES FOR CLEANING API BASED ON GLASS-LINED REACTOR

21 December 2020 News

REATORG performed the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of two reactor units for the purification of API or intermediates for a pharmaceutical company.

To solve this task, REATORG developed two REATORG TECHNOLOGIESTM reactor units based on 100 L glass-lined reactors with glassware equipment, instrumentation and manifold for connecting process media.

The complexity of the task was that it was required to place a large number of fittings to connect media, valves, devices on lids of reactors with a limited number of nozzles. Glass-lined reactors are suitable to operate under vacuum and under pressure. To prevent damage of the glassware equipment during the operation of the reactors under overpressure, the reactors were equipped with rotary butterfly valves to cut off the glass parts.

It was also necessary to make many non-standard parts from fluoroplastic and coated with fluoroplastic according to the drawings developed by REATORG.

REATORG specialists developed a P&ID diagram, found technical solutions, prepared 3D-models of equipment and design drawings. Welding of stainless steel components, assembly of systems and commissioning were made by REATORG.

The first reactor for dissolving the APIs was assembled on the basis of a reactor with a propeller stirrer. The second reactor is equipped with an anchor agitator and is designed to crystallize the product. Each reactor is equipped with a glass glassware equipment that works us reflux condenser which also allows solvent distillation and recovery, cut off by a butterfly valve and pipe fittings lined with fluoroplastic, LESER safety valves. To supply media, each reactor is equipped with a manifold made of A316L stainless steel. The manifold is equipped with diaphragm valves, the flow part of which is lined with fluoroplastic, with the connection of Tri-clamp according to ASME BPE standard. To control the water supply, each reactor is equipped with an Endress Hauser flowmeter, suitable for measuring the flow rate of purified water, corresponding to Pharmacopeia.2.2.0020.15. The pressure in the reactor is measured by WIKA manometer.

For carrying out the cleaning procedure, each reactor is equipped with a CIP-rod with a washing head, which allows for wash in place.

Reactor systems have all the necessary certificates, as well as certificates for materials in contact with the product, which allows validation of reactor systems.

Glassware equipment of the reactor system were manufactured by Simax (Czech Republic) specifically for REATORG TECHNOLOGIESTM.
