On September 5, on the anniversary of the death of L. A. Kostandov, the memory of the "Titan of the Soviet chemical industry" was honored at the Kremlin wall.
Every year on September 5, gray-haired people gather at the Kremlin wall. Many years ago they were united by a man whose ashes rest here, in the niche of the Kremlin wall on Red Square in Moscow, next to the ashes of people who were building a great country.
They came to their teacher, colleague and friend, to Leonid Arkadievich Kostandov. These are people, in the past - deputy ministers, directors of the world's largest factories and combines, generals who ensured the chemical and biological protection of the country, and, of course, family members - three wonderful daughters of Leonid Arkadyevich with their families: Natella Leonidovna, Stalina Leonidovna and Inna Leonidovna Kostandov.
He created a powerful world-class chemical industry. In a matter of years, the USSR not only eliminated the lag behind Western countries in the chemical industry, but also broke into the leaders - in terms of chemical development, it took second place in the world!
Leonid Arkadievich died on September 5, 1984 in Leipzig, where he was sent by the country's leadership to conduct difficult, but very important negotiations. Leonid Arkadievich coped with the task, as always, brilliantly, but his heart could not stand it.
In 2020, the information and analytical magazine "CHEMICAL EXPERT" took the initiative to create a business discussion club "KOSTANDOV" - a new format of business events in the chemical and related industries, designed to provide the most comfortable and relaxed environment for effective and unbiased discussion of the most pressing and important issues of the industry, which immediately became in demand and popular in the professional community.
For us, living now, the name of Leonid Arkadievich is not only a source of pride, but also an example! An example of service and love!

LEONID ARKADIEVICH KOSTANDOV - Minister of the Chemical Industry of the USSR (1965-1980), Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR (1980-1984); was the head of several industries at once: chemical and petrochemical; metallurgical, timber and pulp and paper industries; supervised the production of mineral fertilizers and biotechnology products.
