Rigging

The scope of rigging operations includes:
  • moving equipment from on-site storage to assembly area;
  • vertically moving equipment (lifting and lowering) to design elevations;
  • handling operations in the warehouse and assembly area, including reloading (if required), as well as placement and removal of vehicles;
  • moving equipment inside the assembly area;
  • using land transport vehicles, including on-site vehicles;
  • using shop transport vehicles;
  • using warehouse, on-site and shop materials handling equipment;
  • equipment unpacking and removing packaging outside the assembly area;
  • return of reusable containers, skids, pallets and cable drums to on-site storage for subsequent dispatch to the supplier;
  • disposal of packaging and assembly waste.
It is practical to transport heavy-weight equipment directly from the destination railway station to their final location in the assembly area at the place of installation or to assembly yards excluding on-site storage facilities. This helps cut down costs of several intermediate handling operations.
