After adjustments of installed machines, units, and equipment, included into an automatic or process line, are finished, integrated testing of equipment should be performed.

Integrated testing consists in testing all main units and installations including all related equipment – process lines, streams, departments, workshops and buildings, in order to verify that the finished facility is ready for operation. Equipment must be subjected to integrated testing running idle, under load, using a neutral medium or with trial output of intended product.

In the course of process line integrated testing all main and auxiliary equipment, heating furnaces, lifting and handling mechanisms, manufacturing aids and accessories included into the line scope are tested in working conditions and under load. During these tests adjustments are made on equipment, attachments, conveying mechanisms, instrumentation and automation, as well as their harmonization in order to ensure equipment design capacity, precise and accurate execution of all production process steps to manufacture products that fully comply with the requirements of their manufacturing and delivery technical specifications. The timing of operation is checked for all units and devices included into the scope of process or automatic line and a trial batch of products is manufactured.

During equipment integrated testing the staff of specialized and assembly subcontractors together with the customer's production personnel work in shifts around the clock to monitor the operation and correct use of equipment and all utility lines. If any assembly defects and faults in equipment operation are found, they are immediately rectified.

Integrated testing of a production process system must be first completed using inert media, with subsequent transition to running with working media until the finished product intended in the design is delivered. The particulars of arrangement and procedure of process system integrated testing and commissioning work for specific branches of industry are regulated by production procedures, start-up instructions and time schedules that define the steps, sequence and special conditions of start-up and commissioning. Installed equipment that has passed integrated testing or individual testing under load (if integrated testing is not required for this equipment) is accepted as operational by a provisional commission with drafting a certificate that is submitted to the state acceptance commission.

Integrated testing is completed by drafting a technical report.
The results of equipment integrated testing are noted in the certificate of equipment acceptance issued by the provisional commission.
