Press Release on XX Mendeleev Congress

8 October 2016 Press release

    The 20th Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry was held in Yekaterinburg on September 26-30, 2016. The scientific program, which took place within the congress, reflected complexity and connections between industries we see now in the world.

     "This is one of the biggest forums, there was a very serious list of participants from 38 countries. At the exhibition, we saw about 70 scientific institutions that presented their achievements and experience, which is very important. We managed to unite science, education and production," said Mikhail Kotyukov, head of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations of Russia (FASO).

     About 2 thousand people, including about 200 foreign scientists took part in the ХХ Mendeleev Congress. At the congress, scientists examined the possibilities of creating molecular systems, devices and machines of different complexity, discussed additive technologies, materials of future, chemical aspects of alternative power industry, as well as problems of teaching chemistry in schools.

     "REATORG company was pleased to sponsor such a significant event," said Georgy Khachiyan, REATORG Director General, "we will continue the tradition of supporting science and scientific communities in Russia."

     During the four days forum was held, advanced domestic and foreign developments have been demonstrated. The scientists presented innovative new generation absorbable suture with antibacterial coating preventing inflammation of surgical sutures, and new implants in an absorbable shell for treatment of cancer.

     Moreover, at this jubilee congress Russian scientists announced that soon new elements will be added to the Mendeleev's table. Today we know about discovering the 115th, 117th and 118th elements that are already included into the periodic table, their names will be approved till the end of the year, and in 2019 scientists will begin to synthesize the 119th and 120th elements.

     This congress was special because it included one more event: an exhibition called "CHEMISTRY. Science. Industry. Education 2016"

     REATORG presented glass reactor equipment at its booth. Each sample presented was interesting by its technical solution.

     A glass reactor with a double jacket allowing making researches in vacuum in a wide range of temperatures was especially interesting for visitors. The second (vacuum) jacket allows the following:

   - observing (at low temperatures) the process in the reactor, there is no effect of snow build-up on the jacket outer surface;

   - avoiding heat losses, burns at high temperatures;

   - reducing the incoming of parasitic heat or heat loss during synthesis. Thus, this allows estimating thermal effect of a reaction in time (thermal profile) in the most accurate way and, accordingly, choosing conditions for carrying out synthesis reactions on industrial scale.

     In the presented FC502 glass reactor we implemented a system that makes it possible to remove or replace a reaction vessel as quickly and easily as possible without dismantling piping of the reactor cover.

     Technical solutions REATORG implements in its reactor equipment made of different materials (glass, stainless steel, titanium, etc.) and in different volumes, together with their low cost, are designed to provide our scientists with modern tools for research and new discoveries.
